I always pause when recommending tattoo artists due to the varying styles and specialties, but if you are looking for a traditional American style tattoo, Jarret Crosson is one of the most respected artists in Texas, and we are fortunate that he lives here in Austin.
Superb skill. Superb ink. Superb quality. All my traditional American pieces were done by him and I get compliments about his work on a regular basis. 10/10. Dont take my word for it, google him, and check out his website for yourself. Dude is super down to earth and laid back.
I agree with Ryan, having been a tattoo artist and maintaining many connections across the globe in the industry it is always important to feel comfortable with you tattoo artist and understand their style and approach to tattooing. When I arrived to Austin in 2003, there were far less tattoo parlors in town and a much smaller pool to choose from in talent pool. I went to all the shops in town with the intent to find an artist to finish my body suit, I did not let any of them know my background and was treating in passing by most until I met Mike Terrell, owner of Gully Cat Tattoos on S. 1st next to Polvo’s. Mike has been tattooing for over 20 years and in the same location since my arrival in 2003. If you end up there, tell him Travis sent you, he will take very good care of you.
