I use the Natrol brand for both me and my daughter. I use both the advanced slow release and just the regular one. If I find myself waking up in the middle of the night the advanced is the way to go, but if just wanting nothing to help fall asleep the regal one is great. My daughter has really enjoyed using the children one it really helps her fall asleep and get better sleep.
I take 20 mg of Melatonin most nights. I love it! If you want to geek out on learning more about it, I recently listened to a podcast that took a deep-dive into the wonders of melatonin. bengreenfieldfitness.com/po...
I love melatonin for myself and one of my night owl kiddos. We take really tiny doses (1-2mg) and it just helps you slow down and get sleepy. We also use the Natrol brand - we get it in the 1mg pills.
When I was taking it I would wake up very groggy. I actually prefer taking magnesium before bed. It’ll make you feel relaxed but it won’t knock you out. Plus, I hear it’s really easy to become magnesium deficient. But yeah, I think it’s likely dependent on how much trouble you have sleeping?
The only one that does not give me problems is Natrol dissolving tablets. The rest give me either weird dreams or make me feel sleepy in the morning. I recommend taking it for few days. Once the sleep improves, it is better to stop taking them.
