TOP LOAD WASH MACHINES RECS!

We have had enough of our front load wash machine & the endless mold it creates (it's been over five years with so many fixes, tricks, etc - we are done!) -- so if you have ANY brands of top loads you love, would love to hear! Thank you in advance!

LG all the way. Also love their matching dryer, which has a cool feature where the door will open both sideways as well as top to bottom -- so you can open it from the top when loading, catching items that otherwise would hit the floor -- or open sideways when unloading, making it easy to get items into a laundry basket placed under the opening.

I avoid the Korean brands and stick with Whirlpool - no issues and they company provides better support & warranties than non-US brands

Thanks Steve Dossick - we were leaning towards LG! Elexa Martinez thank you- I will definitely look into that brand, too! Sadly Laura Wilkinson Whirlpool is the wash machine we have had many issues, but I am so happy you are happy with yours! We have a kitchen full of Kitchenaid appliances, just not so lucky with this washer, I think!

Speed Queen TC5 washing machine. As close to old school as it gets.

I'm not an expert in this area but I'm going to guess that the front loaders have mold issues versus the top load and the top load are going to use twice as much water than The front loaders so I personally love the top load LG even though the agitator is going to wear more on your clothes

Front loaders definitely use less water. However top loaders are not what they used to be. Due to washing machine regulations, they all have to use quite a bit less water. So the default setting for the Speed Queen TC5 is the mandatory "eco" setting and uses very little water. All top loaders will be similar. What Speed Queen did with the TC5 machine is make the other settings more in line with how machines used to work and those settings use more water. So you get a choice. I don't know about other top loaders, but the reviews lead me to believe all their settings are using a lot less water. It was an eye opener to me when we had to replace our 23 year old Whirlpool last year. All our family and friends use front loaders, so I guess I had to remain different. 🙃

We really like our top loader from Samsung! Great price point and great machine.
