I am looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner. I need a medium size easy to carry vacuum that cleans dog hair off ceramic floors, carpet and furniture. Any recommendations?
We've been very happy with our Dyson V8 cordless vacuum. It's light and super easy to carry, maneuver, and empty. It has no problem with dog hair on our carpets and hardwoods. It's a bit pricey compared to vacuums I've owned in the past but well worth it in my opinion.
I have the perfect one for you! Miele Compact C1! It is gorgeous for dog hair off floors and furniture and flat, low pile carpet. If you have higher pile carpet, you'll want the Miele C3!
We just bought the "Shark Rocket DuoClean Corded Stick Vacuum with Self-Cleaning Brushroll" from Costco.com and we love it. It is (apparently) known for doing well on hard surfaces and especially pet hair, but we don't have pets so we cannot confirm that. Consumer Reports seems to love Shark vacuum cleaners (rated among the highest) and CR also advises against battery powered so we chose corded. Here is the CR official stance on their site re: cordless. "Consumer Reports does not currently recommend any cordless stick vacuums because of the generally high incidence of problems reported by our members. The problems can include batteries that diminish in power over time or die completely. Such problems are particularly acute by the fifth year of ownership."
For quick, daily vacuuming of hardwood floors, couches, and carpets, I love the convenience of the Dyson V8. For the weekly deep cleaning we have a Miele - dog and cat hair fear this machine!!
Kenmore's HEPA bagged Intuition vacuum is GREAT!! lightweight and versatile I really can't complain about how well it picks up either. The suction is pretty good.
I've had my Kirby Sentrai for 11 years now. I have two dogs and its that time of year that they are shedding like crazy, even though it's still over 100 outside. The Kirby has no problem cleaning up all of the dog hair.
