I love my rice cooker. It was a bit expensive, but it is one of my most used appliances. It does max at 4 cups. Made by Zojirushi. Perfect rice. All kinds.

We bought the Zojirushi NS-TSC10 Rice Cooker based on the recommendations right here on Fresh Chalk! This model makes up to 5.5 cups and has a steamer function as well. We use it exclusively to make brown rice, although it also comes highly recommended for white rice as well. PRO: It's pretty easy to use - set it and forget it. The brown rice is fantastic, perfect in every way - and that's what sold us on this model. CON: This was a LOT of money for what is, for us, a single-use appliance. Was it worth it? Well, the rice is really, REALLY good. But it's as slow as everybody says - almost two hours for a couple cups of rice - so we have to plan ahead. The steamer function hasn't been at all useful for us, but YMMV.

We've had this rice cooker for almost 10 years now and it's gotten so much usage. Not to mention the brand itself is well known for making great rice.

For years I cooked my rice in a pot (or worse, got microwaveable rice) and it never came out right (was never sticky, or often overcooked). I eventually heard about Zojirushi and the infamous 1-button perfect rice. I decided to take the plunge.

I can tell you after many years of delicious rice that no kitchen should be without one of these. You put the rice in (after washing it of course), fill water to the corresponding line, set the rice type, and press the button. Some time in the future you have delicious perfectly-cooked rice. Very easy to clean, and even after 6 years my Zojirushi is still going strong.
Augustina Liu You can even make a cake with this!

Chris Manderino +1 - this is my husband's favorite item. He is a great cool but can't seem to get rice right...well not anymore it is perfection. Haven't tried cake yet but AWESOME!

Adam Doppelt I have one of these too and I gotta say I love it. Thinking of making a lateral move to an Instant Pot, though.

Kevin Nakao we switched from the Zojirushi to the Instant Pot, and the results are much better.

Chris Manderino Whoa so if we make the shift to instant pot will it replace this and my 25 year old crock pot? I’m all about less stuff

Kevin Nakao We still use both. The rice cooker is great for keeping it warm for the kids, but Instant Pot produces a nice texture/flavor.

Adam Doppelt Yes, Chris Manderino that's why we're thinking of switching! I want less stuff in the kitchen. The Instant Pot can do a zillion other things, and will actually cook the rice faster. I would take that trade, especially if the quality is in the same ballpark. Sounds like the rice might even be superior!
