algebra tutor?

I am looking for a math tutor for my 8th grader, someone who can help her master algebra before moving on to geometry. In person preferred, though maybe zoom would be a fallback for the right person. Anyone have a math tutor they love?

Not a tutor, but we had a lot of success with the Kumon pre-algebra book. Worked through it last summer and ours went from not doing very well in 5th grade math to all As in 6th grade math. We got the algebra book for this summer.

Try Mathnasium in Ballard. It’s in person, and you pay a monthly fee but can go as often as possible.

Did you reach out to Fusion Math? They're great. Affiliated with UW I think (e.g.: tutors are masters and PhD candidates, etc), plus other universities (e.g.: MIT).

The Math Man!

Also, I found the book Forgotten Algebra to be super helpful. (This was to prep for the GRE a few years ago—but given how clear and well organized the book is, I would def recommend it for younger students like yours too!)

Thanks all for your suggestions. I gotta decide between online, someone visiting us, or a dedicated facility like Mathnasium or Seattle Math Man. I'll report back.

My son loved Isak. +1 (206) 920-5951. He came to our house throughout. He’s $65 an hour and brings his own plan for the session. We looked at Math Fusion but was about 2x price and online. We wanted in person. He also teaches coding.
