I went through this a couple of years ago. Finding a repair person, costs of parts (you know where this is going) and scheduling time it was a much as a new one. The one I had was ten years old. Tech was updated, parts expensive and hard to find (See what I did there).

Unless you have something very fancy, look for a sale at a local hardware store. My $.02 and worth about that. ;)

What's the problem exactly?

it's only partially refrigerating the non-freezer section. it's definitely not working right.

Is it someplace cold by any chance?

not to be the complaint section here, but this darn fridge is only 7yrs old. and i just had a flat-panel Samsung TV partially die. brand new flat panel Vizio 50" was $280. crazy cheap. more reinforcement that we're in a commodity-throw-it-away-and-buy-a-new-one market. over almost 50yrs of life, and i can count the number of times on one hand where a fridge needed service. maybe i will need to buy a replacement new fridge every other year now in the modern era? :double-sadface:

What brand is it? Depending on the brand, Appliance Service Station might fix it. I had good luck with them.

GE. i am using their web service for a $110 service call for now. sigh. i'll call them though just in case.

You might also try Mark Wiseman. I heard from a few people that he is the guy to call for appliances.

Wiseman is not in my service area. double sigh. I'm stuck with the GE $110 service call. #homeOps is hard. assinc doesn't service GE. triple sigh.

Report back! I have some GE appliances too and it's just a matter of time before I need service...
