I have a question about installation of a dryer vent.

Who's a good person to ask?

Sometime in the future, I will need help with this as well. Open to recommendations. I also need to buy a used dryer and have mine hauled off. Anyone know someone selling that could deliver?

Maybe call Advanced Chimney Sweeps (they service dryer vents) or Appliance Dean?

Ok, we just bought a like new dryer off Facebook Marketplace and my husband is pretty handy, so he installed it himself. The directions for the new one say not to use a metal foil vent, that we should use a rigid or flexible metal vent. I can't tell if the old vent (the uninstalled one pictured against white brick) was foil or flexible metal. So, we bought a semi-rigid vent (pictured installed) but it makes for a tight fit and I just want to be sure this is ok, or maybe the old one we had is actually "flexible metal" (not foil) and we can use it?

Jodi Kempany I looked for about a week on Facebook Marketplace and got a great deal on a barely used Maytag. I shopped the Best Buy Outlet in Kennesaw, and the regular Best Buy, Home Depot, Appliances 4 Less and some other outlet, and they didn't seem like that great of a deal for scratch and dent/used, and were mostly LG and Samsung. I wanted a Maytag/Kenmore/Whirlpool. The person we bought from helped load into my minivan and we plan to take the old one to the dump ourselves. We can help you transport if you need, or ask in your Nextdoor group if a neighbor will help load/unload.

The old one pictured is considered to be foil (likely doesn’t handle the temperatures your new dryer puts off). The new metal you installed looks good.

Sally Peter Apparently, I am the culprit of not cleaning lint out often enough. I have "filled and killed" a few used dryers at this point. "What's that burning smell?" Lol. Luckily not my house, yet. An old high school friend have a used washer and dryer biz. And twice in the last 2 yrs he has picked up my old and delivered me a working old dryer for terrific price. But this last dryer did not make it maybe 2 months before the heating element went out.
I have learned how to open up the back and vacuum out lint. I could probably order a replacement part and install myself but uh. Yeah. Hoping to do another switch-a-roo but with a used dryer that is not from the jurassic period. Fingers crossed. Don't get me started on my dryer exhaust situation. That whole scene needs a do over. My flexi vent is just hangin out over my dryer's shoulder for now. Lol.
