Best Washington Food & Drink Spots

  • 1924 Pennsylvania Avenue NW 3607, Washington
Maliik Obee - Brunch! Whether its a date or a family outing, never had a bad time at Founding Farmers. Be prepared to pay to park though. But the menu isn't just the basics, but it's not too much craziness on bacon and eggs, which I like. Always loved the ambiance.
Julie Halpin - The best brunch in the DC area! Highly recommend the stuffed french toast if you are looking for something sweet or one of the pan scrambles for a more savory dish. I would definitely make a reservation before going, they are very popular!
  • 1052 Thomas Jefferson St NW, Washington
Maliik Obee - Not the biggest cupcake fan but this changed my perspective a bit. Ambiance is key, nice setting in the hustle and bustle of the city with sweet treats.
Julie Halpin - The best cupcakes in DC hands down! They have all the best baked goodies and amazing coffee. Definitely a local favorite
Sarah Patton - I'm obsessed with this place!

  • 301 Water St SE 105, Washington
Maliik Obee - Best ice cream in the Navy Yard area, and there are a few spots to choose from. Right on the water if you want to make it a date or just get some fresh air. Right now they have the christmas lights up so it's beautiful at night. Thai Iced Tea ice cream is amazing, ask for the cookie sandwich, it's two christmas cookies with the thai iced tea ice cream in the middle its amazing.

Maliik Obee - Mama's Kitchen is a mainstay in Anacostia, they really do a lot for the community. You'll see pictures of kids from the neighborhood on the walls, pictures of honor roll certificates and events coming up in the community. They do a lot of giving back and the pizza is good. Get a real slice or pie for the family here. Lots of other good things, I particularly like the subs. A great sign of how trusting they are of the community is the back door is always open. People in need can come and get a hot meal. Very reasonable pricing as well.
  • 6. Bammy's
301 Water St SE Suite 115, Washington
Zan Hudson - Hip Caribbean spot in DC. Food is delicious and I recommend getting the Rum punch the best I ever had!
  • 3021 Naylor Rd SE, Washington
Maliik Obee - If you are in this area of SE Washington, you know that there isn't as much variety as needed in food options. While options are improving, Rick's is one the best food spots in the area. Despite inflation, they still remain pretty reasonable in terms of pricing, especially the $7 lunch menu. Portions are key, and you get good servings for what you pay for. Some days I am eating on the go, and can always depend on the beef patties and cocoa bread to be hot and fresh. Wait time should be expected. I'm not a fan of eating food that's just been sitting around, and depending what you get, sometimes it may take a while but the food is worth it. Another perk about Rick's is they do catering, and platters. On Sundays, you can get jerk wings for the family or some ox tails for a pretty reasonable price.

A personal favorite spot that I frequent at least 2-3 times a month.
  • 4701 Georgia Ave NW, Washington
Zan Hudson - This spot has the best wings in DC. The food is delicious and flavorful. I highly recommend dining at this place.

Maliik Obee - One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. Perfect for date night summer or winter. You can sit inside and listen to some good music. Or if the weather is nice, sit outside at one of the shaded tables and enjoy a meal with the water of the Navy Yard right next to you. When its chilly, they have the heaters outside at the tables. Best thing on the menu in my opinion is the shrimp quesadillas, but overall there are plenty of options for a reasonable price. ($12 for a quesadilla meal). Another great thing about this restaurant is the frozen margaritas. You can either get them individually (I prefer a swirl - mixed flavors) or you can get an entire pitcher. If you want to order a drink or pitcher to go, you have to order food.

Not much parking, so be prepared to pay for one of the garages if you don't see anything on the street. Nice, safe spot to be in pretty much day or night, and you have access to other spots in walking distance for maybe ice cream after or if you want to hang out and enjoy the scenery.
  • 2221 Minnesota Ave SE, Washington
Maliik Obee - No frills, quick and easy breakfast (and lunch) right in the heart of Fair Lawn. Mr. and Mrs. Lee have amazing customer service and know most of their patrons by name and face (even with a mask). Probably the best half and half/mix (Arnold Palmer) you'll get in the area. They make the best grits and bacon
