Somewhere between hard/crunchy curl definition and super soft definition. Definitely affected by how much you use and whether it's applied to dry or wet/damp hair. They say it's "ultra-soft" of a hold, but for my kinky, to looser kinked hair, it seemed to be a firmer hold.
