When traveling abroad, you will always need to bring some amount of USD cash. First of all, you should make sure that the bills are recent and relatively flawless. In several countries, they will turn away USD with even the slightest tear, stamp or perceived defect. Or, if the date of issue is earlier than a certain date. I realize we don't even consider this in the States, but it is important in many places - know before you go! Because you don't want to carry all of your money in one place, I find it effective to use this money belt for cash and to quickly throw it into the hotel room safe while you are out and about. I leave a piece of paper and pen in the money belt as well to track how much I take out in an attempt to keep track of expenses and to manage the outflow.
