I know what you guys are thinking, Kei, it's 2021, who even uses VHSs anymore?? Well, I do, and a big part of why I love them are the great previews which time-warp you right into the middle of your nostalgia.
Finding Nemo on VHS starts with a preview for The Incredibles, followed by a few others, including Lion King 1 1/2, which is just Timon and Pumba talking over Lion King 1 and explaining around what the movie is going to be about without actually ever saying anything.
Anyways, the movie starts with a true-to-Pixar short movie called "Knicknack" which is the funny/sad efforts of a snowman to escape his snowglobe and connect with others...I'll keep my commentary on this to myself, but the music (Bobby McFerrin) and effects are spot on and very catchy.
The movie itself is truly an unsung coming-of-age story from the perspectives of both a child and parent, and is wonderfully done. Inspires us to have faith in ourselves and others and remember that sometimes it's okay to just enjoy the ride. No spoilers (just in case), but definitely some wonderful characters and quotable moments to be found. One of my all-time favorite family movies. :)
