Beautiful finish and intricate carved pattern visible through the clear banjo head. Pearlescent tuning pegs and mother-of-pearl inlays, with bright metal finishings holding the banjo head in place. Overall a really beautiful instrument to behold (and hold :D)
Also holds a tune wonderfully (even after being jostled in the bottom of a stroller for about half a mile!) Spectacular sound--a light, banjo-like twang, with the feel of a ukulele. Would HIGHLY recommend for anyone wanting to start playing a stringed instrument as it is pretty easy to learn (nylon strings are WAY easier on the fingertips than steel!). Comes pre-stringed, though they are not pre-stretched so will take a few days to a week to get them stretched to where they will hold the tune well, depending on how often you pick it up to play those first few days. Does not come with a strap or other accessories, so be prepared to pick those up (case, picks, etc) if you want them, though I just tied a long ribbon on mine and called it a day.
Seems really well-made, and stands up to regular infant abuse without batting an eye. Made in China, but as this is the origin of the moon lute, the banjo/banjolele's predecessor (B.C./Early A.D.), I think this is probably the best place for this to be crafted. Handmade, if I'm not mistaken.
