Hit with the stomach bug

My youngest has a stomach bug and I feel like my thermometer isn’t reading his temperature correctly. It will read 104 and 101 in the same readings which is a pretty crazy discrepancy when it comes to little kids. I borrowed one from a friend to get me by through this illness but I would love to get a new one that’s accurate. Please give me your favorite options!

I have had similar struggles is this a forehead one? I feel like we just through down for one of those and I really question its accuracy after my son had croup and fever for days. One min it would say 102 the next 101 or 99. I just knew he had a fever but I didn't like not knowing.

We bought the AMPMED non-contact infrared thermometer and it measures temperature at a distance of .3 to 1.2 inches away from the forehead. You have to wait 3 to 5 seconds between measurements. It has proven very accurate and helpful for us. I pray your little one gets well soon.

I use the Braun Thermoscan Ear Thermometer. I feel like it is pretty accurate.

I have a Kinsa smart thermometer that has a companion app which keeps track of all the readings - highly recommend!

Second on the Braun ThermoScan Ear Thermometer... I just do not feel like the head reading thermometers work!

We love our Braun ear thermometer, too. A nurse at our pediatrician ironically said it is the least reliable one to use, but I feel it is the most reliable (besides rectal for infant use), so I still use it! We have a forehead contactless one & unless I use it on their temple, I feel like I get 95.5 or less! Not a fan of that kind, personally!
