Lasik

Hi neighbors and friends, please share your Lasik recommendations and experiences. I'm finally ready to consider Lasik because I'm tired of mask + glasses.

Both my partner and I got our LASIK treatments from Dr. Sharpe at SharpeVision in Bellevue. He got his 10 years ago and still has perfect vision. I got my treatment in 2018 and have had no issues.

My contact prescription was -5.5 in both eyes with astigmatism. The procedure itself took no more than 5 minutes. They offer you valium if you're nervous and helps to get you to sleep post-operation which is what you'll want to do! Couldn't feel a thing during the procedure. There's a dot that you're supposed to stare straight ahead at but at some point everything will go pitch black - that, along with the burning scent were the scariest parts. I fell asleep on the car ride home and was pretty much knocked out for the next 5-6 hours. Woke up a couple of times in a tiny bit of pain, but SharpeVision gives you some numbing drops that helped a ton. Once I awoke from my slumber, I could see about 90%! It took another week or so for my vision to get to 20/20. Best decision I've ever made!

I went to Dr. Ford around 2002 for LASIK surgery. It was amazing and my eyesight had been perfect until about a year ago, due to natural aging of my eyes. It was a game changer for me. The only side effect I had was mildly dry eyes, but it was never bothersome and easy to use drops. I had the same experience as Flora Ku^. Good luck, I highly recommend Dr. Ford.

Flora - I'm pretty tolerant of procedures and thought I'd probably not need valium... until you mentioned the "burning scent". Eeeek! Thank you though, for the recommendation, I'll check out Dr. Sharpe.

Carolyn - thanks for the recommendation!

Erin - small world, nice to see you again!
