Recommendations for private campgrounds in Texas?

As many of you may know, you have to book Texas state parks reservations 4+ months ahead of time, and I'm just never that prepared.

Any recommendations for private campgrounds in Central Texas and beyond? Ideally places with water access (like Krause, but bigger).

Maile, are you looking for tent camping only? We found a gem on the Frio with lovely owners and spent spring break there with our Airstream but it's full hookups for rv's, travel trailers, etc. It had beautiful river access with a big rock to jump off. It's called El Rod's on the Frio. Also, try this place: kerrvilletx.gov/318/Kerrvil...

Last, we have a reservation I snagged at Pedernales State Park in a couple weeks we can't use. I'd be happy to see about transferring it to you before I cancel. Text me if you're interested!

I am also interested to hear what other people have to recommend as it's been so hard to find availability.

Have you checked the LCRA parks? They're nice and, per the name, on the Colorado River. They even have a quick view availability page called Camping This Weekend:

Ooh, thanks, Dani! We've actually been to that park in Kerrville. I hadn't even thought about it! And yes, we'd LOVE to take the Pedernales reservation if you think it's transferrable. I'll text you!
