It really is a great, huge, independent bookstore. My husband and I would go on dates to Powell’s and spend way too much time browsing its multiple levels of used and new books. It’s worth the hype it receives (and is turning 50 this year!).

Support a Northwest book store and independent authors. One of our favorite days in the house is when the Powell's subscription box arrives and we get to unbox a new adventure. Every eight weeks, a box arrives with beautifully designed books by independent authors and a surprise gift (we've received a flower press and a kid's magnifying glass as an example). The books are some of our favorite books that we would have never discovered and the goodies that come inside the box offer hours of fun and exploration. Their website does not do this justice. I have to hand it to the curators of Powell's Box for Kids.
