4th of July Happenings in Austin?

I'll be taking a 10 day staycation starting Friday- Yippee! Sometimes my staycations are more fun than my vacations…so l'm pretty excited.

I'll already be stepping into a blast from the past seeing Coolio and Vanilla Ice at Emerald Point Bar and Grill one of the days.

What else is happening or perhaps something I may have not done? (I've done TONS because I'm in love with this city but there's always something new popping up.)

Ideas?!?!

Mt Bonnell for fireworks. You can see multiple shows from a single vantage point.

It does get busy, so get there early. Bring a daypack loaded with light meal and some drinks.

We really like the Zilker Botanical Garden and Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. They both open early which is a plus in the heat. If you feel like doing a day trip there is a lot of cool stuff in Johnson City. A fun pioneer museum on main street and the driving/walking tour of the LBJ Ranch is interesting. Not really 4th of July per se, but fun things in the area.

My husband just sent me an email from KUT.org, the local NPR station that talks about some of the happenings for the 4th. I posted the link below.
