Places to cool down in Austin area?

Pre-pandemic I'd trek the kids all over to the best swimming pools with slides. Moving from Seattle, I couldn't get over the fact you could go swimming with water slides and other water obstacles all day for under $5.

One of my favorites is Veteran Memorial Park in Cedar Park. What are ones I may have missed?

A couple of Austin parks with pools we enjoy are; The Dick Nichols District Park and The Mabel Davis District Park. There are also several splash pads we have visited over the years. I really liked the Clarksville Splash Pad. Didn’t seem too terribly crowded and lots of stuff for the kids to do. I also like the Liz Carpenter Splash Pad at Auditorium Shores. In addition to the splash pad, there is an awesome park nearby and you can walk to the top of Doug Sahm Hill and get a nice view of downtown.

I saw the list of pools and splash pads they plan to open and so bummed like almost non of the south pools or pads. Winter storm really did a number on Austin aquatic. I do know Liz Carpenter is running because of the new park.

If you live up north, the City of Pflugerville pools and splash pads are open. I believe all except for the one with the cool slides (Scott Mentzer Pool). It was damaged in the winter storm. I’ve hit up our usual spots a few times this summer.

Otherwise, out go-to is Bull Creek. Get in a good hike and then cool down.

Scott Metzger is one of my favorites which is why I asked 😭 Being from Seattle, anything within 35-45 minutes is a piece of cake for driving.
