3 Best Decatur Nurseries

  • 353 Boulevard SE, Atlanta
Melissa Gallagher - If you're looking for a good local nursery for outdoor planting, check out Garden*Hood. The staff is always helpful, and they always seem to have what I need. A great alternative to the big box spots located in the heart of Grant Park.
  • 751 Gaskill St SE, Atlanta
Melissa Gallagher - Flora & Fauna is a great small biz that focuses on house plants. They can help you find the right plants whether your thumb is green or black, and their space will make you wish it was the former if you happen to fall into the latter thumb category like me. They also do fun collaborations with local artists and makers (think: jewelry inspired by plants or handmade ceramic planters). It's also one of those spots tucked into a neighborhood (Cabbagetown) that makes you feel like you've stumbled onto a local gem.
  • 435 Oakview Rd, Decatur
Melissa Gallagher - The Wylde Center is more than just a nursery, although they have great plant sales that are definitely worth checking out. Beyond that, they are a non-profit that supports the community with programs and education about environmental science, sustainable urban living, organic gardening, health, and nutrition. They rent garden plots for folks that want a space to plant. They run summer camps for kids. They began the Farm to School programs in Atlanta and Decatur, which focus on getting healthy foods in the school system. Their plant sales are a great way of supporting. They make it super easy: most of the time it's an honor system where you check yourself out. They're open during daylight hours. Lovely people with a lovely mission that makes our community a better place!
