Any pros I can ask questions about tax report?

This year is my first year doing the tax report as an independent contractor as a resident alien. A lot of confusion going on as I research how to do the tax report. I wonder if there's any pro I can talk to address those confusions? Thank you!

Taxes are incredibly confusing in the US, I apologize in advance. I think the IRS is extending the deadline until May 15th due to the ongoing pandemic, btw.

One of the best ways to do your taxes is to take advantage of the FREE tax filing software that some companies make available. They work fine if your taxes are simple and you don't owe very much. See apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/b.... TaxAct and TurboTax are the most well known. You could also walk into an H&R Block and they will help you out for a modest fee.

Also, some of the more obnoxious tax prep companies continually lobby congress to keep tax law complicated. That way they can make more money from confused US taxpayers. You can read more about that here - propublica.org/article/insi.... Probably a good reason to avoid Intuit products like TurboTax.
