I have these alan + roth curtains from Lowe's in three rooms in my house - they do a nice job of keeping out the light and they have a nice texture/weight.
I bought the Linden Street Blackout Curtains from JC Penny for our office in Navy and loved them so I got them for the bedrooms. They do a great job keeping the rooms dark and cool. I will say to go for a darker color if you want true blackout. I bought white for the guest bedroom and when the sun comes up, it is very bright in there!
I don't remember the name of the brand that I got but I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and they had an amazing selection!! They work so well, keep my room cool and make me feel like I could sleep for days if I had the time lol!
I’m very happy with the Blackout Panel Curtains-Project 62 from Target. I also got the Blackout Twill Solid Panel-Pillowfort from Target for my daughter’s bedroom. They do a great job keeping the light out, specially helpful during Summer months.
I have to say HomeGoods is a great place for this, super pricing and fantastic brands/fabric. It's an option... i found it cheaper than at big box stores.
We use these thermal liners behind a traditional blind to help regulate the temperature in our west-facing front room. I really like being able to control the temperature without completely blocking the light. And if I do want a black-out situation simply closing both layers does the trick.
I bought Estelar Textiler Navy Star Blackout Window Curtains for my boys room. They are a dark navy blue with silver stars. They are so cute and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them just from pics on my FB (I found it hard to find stylish blackout curtains). My boys room are the furthest away from the AC unit so they get a bit warmer than the rest of the house (so I've been told this is one of the reasons) and this really helps keep the sun and heat out.
