Calling all cat lovers

We recently just got my first ever kitten. I have never been around cats due to a serious allergy but we got a hypoallergenic cat so that my bonus son could have a pet. We just picked her up today and it's the opposite of a puppy. She wants nothing to do with me so she runs and hides whenever I put her down. I'm looking for all the tips, tricks and must have stuff that I need for this baby.

Kittens love to climb…beware to keep him/her safe. They love any toy…wadded up pieces of paper, boxes, string, flashlight beam chasing. Really don’t need to spend $ to entertain. We had 2 initially and kept them contained at night and when we were gone, the first few wks. But if you can shut a door and have kitty with you, they will probably be fine. They litter train so quickly!

We sell homemade cat nip toys at The Moxi Poppy! I've noticed that cats enjoy any sort of box or vestibule where they can nest in and get their furry butts stick in, ha!

From my kitten sitting experience, they take some time to warm up to you. What's worked for me is creating a quiet and calm environment, then just sitting on the floor with the Temptation brand treats scattered a few distances away from me and a few closer to me. Once kitten approaches for treats, I used a feather wand to interact with them until they're comfortable with me petting and picking them up. Hope that helps!

Get a cat tree! They love them!

Cat tree for sure, or a scratch post, they love playing with hair ties/rubber bands, and lasers to chase!
They are definitely not dogs, much more independent, so they may not be as cuddly.
Let them explore, and even hide a little and they will come to you once they’re settled in and comfortable.

Honestly that is how my cat was too with certain people- I always gave them a treat to feed him and it worked like a charm! There are these 'lickable' treats where you squeeze the treat out!
