Talk to me about countertop espresso makers.

My Nespresso machine just died and I'm happy for the opportunity to get away from a capsule-style and back to a steam and grounds espresso machine. I only make one or two a day, so I don't need anything massive or fancy. I just want a reliable, good-tasting espresso that doesn't take up a ton of room or require a series of workshops to figure out how to operate. Thoughts?

We got a Capresso for Xmas and love it. It has two features that help the grounds holding cup not fall into the used grounds pot (we use an oversized coffee mug) when you are tapping them out.

My partner purchased it on Amazon for under $150.

Prior to this one, we had a fancier brand - Espressione I think. We also loved that one.

We bought the Breville BES870XL Barista Express Espresso Machine, Large, Stainless Steel. LOVE IT!!!! We use it everyday! It's a little on the pricier side but worth every penny.

I bought a Nuova Simonelli Oscar Espresso Machine used from a neighbor a couple years back, it was an older model then and is still going strong. I’ll invest in a new one when mine does break ,I love it so much. I was a trained barista in another lifetime and think the shots this makes are very good. You will also want to make sure any machine you buy allows for steaming and pulling the shots at the same time, some don’t. amzn.to/3qsGxsX

My personal favorite is the Delonghi Magnifica Expresso Machine.

I am in agreement with Victoria Grinde ! We have the same machine she recommends, and while it is a little bit on the spendier side as an initial investment, we have had ours for 4 years now and it is a total workhorse. Full disclosure, I don't drink coffee but my hubs is a fanatic, and this is his very favorite thing, and at least a once or twice daily part of his life! :).

I am late in the game on replying, but we have been really happy with our Mr. Coffee Espresso and Cappuccino maker. We have had ours for a bit less than a year and have been very happy with it! It is easy to use and easy to clean. And it isn't as expensive as some of the deluxe ones we have seen. I think we got ours for $175 ish.
