Oooo. How would this be for my an old mom type? She had been swimming every day and this looks like it would be a good swap. Walking can only go so far!

Hi Andrea! It must be a hard time right now for your mom if she loves to swim and can't get to a pool because of COVID! Pedaling Excy as an upper body ergometer is an absolutely amazing cardio and range of motion workout for seniors (also for triathletes or to be honest, a vanity play of wanting toned arms). There are several positions she can explore to mimic the resistance of the water in a swim position, but also stand and pedal arms to work on balance/core strength and upper body cardiovascular at the same time). Hand cycling is a hidden secret that mostly on physical therapist know about, but you can burn more calories cycling your upper body than lower body.
