Independent gas pipe installer in the north end of Seattle

As the pool rehab project continues, next step is to install a new gas heater... which means extending a gas line out to our garage where the pump house for the pool will be. There are lots of HVAC firms listed here on FC, but I'd like to find an independent contractor roughly in the north end of Seattle.

Have you tried Energy Works? Small team, great craftsmanship. Rich & Kaleb do all the work. We've done a few projects together now and I'm quite happy.

Hi Robert Crimmins! May I ask why you're specifically looking for an independent contractor? I used All Climate Heating and Air Conditioning and had a great experience. I would highly recommend them, but they don't quite fit what you're looking for.

Hi Ryan, thanks for asking. There are a couple reasons. In general, I enjoy working with folks who are nearer to the ownership of the company, i.e., the entrepreneur. I seldom just hire someone, open the door, let them do their work and leave. I like to talk with them, ask them about their business, how they got started at it, about the technicalities of the work they do. I always learn something. Of course, I'm careful not to be a nuisance; but usually they love the conversation as much as I do. These folks also typically have less marketing savvy and budget compared to their larger competitors; so I try to seek them out when I can. That said, there are projects that might call for a higher-level of specialized skill or equipment or that require multiple disciplines. In those cases, I don't hesitate to go with a bigger firm.

Hey Adam Doppelt, I just called and Blue Flame answered the phone. I suppose maybe they got acquired?

Hi Robert, I am not sure what phone number we had for Energy Works, but I have corrected it in our system. Try this number- 425.409.5661. I apologize for the confusion. Thanks for the call out!

Thanks, Meredith Fife , I called the new number. Found out that the guy who founded Blue Flame sold it and started a new company, Energy Works. I set up an site visit for next week.
