This is great CSA option that supports local farmers. The vegetables are seasonal and beautiful. We also tried some of their meats and local condiments (sauerkraut and hummus) and they were great as well. Great variety and with lots of options. I think peach salsa is in my future.
*Sidenote, try the scones!!!
- We've tried a couple of different grocery deliveries, and Local Yokels has been head and shoulders above the rest. The food has been exceptionally fresh and the fact that it's local is a huge plus.
- I found this to be a great start into the foray of CSAs. Pickup at White Swan Public House in South Lake Union. You can order one box at a time and it’s reasonably priced. You also help a small, local supplier hit hard by the closure of so many restaurants. Go to the ‘buy’ and then ‘shop’ pull down menus. And while you’re at it, get a to go order from White Swan Public House.
- Family farms have it rough. They don’t get the benefits of big agri-businesses vast lobbying efforts, nor can they usually sustain themselves exclusively with farmer’s markets. CSA boxes, restaurants, and getting creative like the folks at Farmer Jones, are the way to stay alive.
Some friends recommended their Introductory Experience box, and I’d also suggest the Honeybee Experience.
- These are local guys, and I know one of them. They have beautiful veggies and its a great chance to get them fresh out of the dirt and onto your plate. The serve most everywhere from Capitol Hill + North.
