Waking up without coffee

I love the smell and taste of coffee but it sometimes will make me jittery. My energy levels I’ve noticed are starting to be not what they used to be. Curious what other alternatives to coffee give you the best pick me up in the morning or around that two pm slump.

MUD/WTR is actually a really great alternative! I see UFC fighters drinking this all the time and they always have great things to say about it!

Brittany, I've always considered myself fairly chipper even without the use of caffeine, but I know many folks who have made the switch to tea (hot or iced) and noticed less of the jitters. Some of my top favorites are jasmine, iced green tea from Starbucks, Tejava, and Teatulia!

Green tea is a great alternative. Bigelow makes a great one but I personally like Starbucks Green Tea with no sugar.

I'm still on the coffee train, and I can't even imagine the day I have to give it up....💔. So first of all, my deepest sympathies to you! My husband has been easing off his intake and loves Matcha (and all teas). Our neighbor has been preaching the MUD/WTR buzz. I hate the taste of tea, so I'd probably go the decaf route if I had to. There are some good roasters making decent decaf these days, and you can always go with half/half of decaf and regular or work to find a blend that is a bit more mellow. Good luck!

IKR!!!

Ok I have to look into this Mud/Wtr I have never even heard of it!! I do like iced tea as long as it doesn't have sugar but I'm currently going through another round of Invisalign after my accident and I'm worried about tea staining my aligners!

Green tea, black tea, or eat an apple in the morning! The natural sugars give you a nice little pick-me-up for the day.

Before I drink any coffee in the morning I down 12 ounces of water. It helps wake me up, hydrates my body after a night's sleep and I don't get jittery after drinking my first, or even second cup of coffee. Also, I put more water in my coffee pot/scoops of ground coffee so it's not as strong.

I love LIV’s energy drink! I use this pre-run & during as well. Looks very green and not very appealing, but taste is pretty good! COSTCO has pretty good deals at time too! 😃

I can’t make a recommendation on morning wake-up as I still fully embrace coffee. However, for the afternoon slump I like Emergen-C. A powder you add to water and it makes a nice little fizzy drink with vitamin C, vitamin B and electrolytes.

Yes! I've experimented a lot with this. You can try caffeine in mint form - freshchalk.com/p/neuro-mint...
Those mints have an ingredient called L-theanine, which is calming and helpful as a study aid.

I'd also recommend trying yerba mate tea. There are lots of yummy flavors and brands to choose from. Yerba mate is a variety of tea with higher levels of caffeine and rarely made me jittery when I was drinking it regularly. freshchalk.com/p/guayaki-ye...

Tea is also caffeine - you can go another route entirely and add maca powder into your smoothie =) it is an energy booster! Try some oatmeal as well, with hot water + lemon on the side - really jolts you and your metabolism.

My go-to drink to wake me up without the hard crash is-- Matcha lemonade with a dash of raspberry syrup. Super tasty, refreshing, and contains natural caffeine. Enjoy!

Ok! I have the Matcha Lemonade and the MUD-WTR!! I will check back if those don't work out well for me and keep working through all these amazing suggestions! Thank you all so much!!

Brittany, I don't understand the questions.... LOL. No coffee! No Way! However, I had a time for a year when I couldn't drink coffee and I drank about 32 oz of water first thing in the morning, I also love the Emergen-C Super Orange drinks - but they do contain sugars, which is also a jitter monster. I think getting off the caffeine helps with a good nights sleep.

Carol Mullins girl it is torture but my body just doesn't react well with coffee. I love it but it's weird because I get all jittery and then I crash so hard. I love the water idea. I try to keep a glass next to my bad so that I drink it the moment I wake up but I probably could be a little bit better about making sure to do it everyday!

It's an ayurvedic thing. Drinking clear, room temperature water first thing in the morning helps wake up your body. artofliving.org/in-en/ayurv...

Water and making sure I move my body as IMMEDIATELY as I can. This usually just means chugging a glass of water then walking around the block.

Black or green tea for me in the mornings. During the day, crystal light makes a delicious wild strawberry with caffeine single serve mix

I'm sure this has already been said, but Green tea is a great alternative to help against the morning jitters!

Having a big cup of water once you wake up really helps before having caffeine!

I have a lemon water and a hard boiled egg (any protein will do) before my lovely one cup of coffee in the morning. Took a little getting used to but stabilized my blood sugar and I don’t get jitters or sweaty from coffee now.
