Need landscaping help

The yard in my new house in Montlake is weirdly half-landscaped, half-not. When is the right time to plant bushes and shrubs? Do you know anyone who can help? I don't need anything complicated like hardscaping or lighting, just someone to help pick out the right plants for the right places and get them into the ground. Ideally this would not cost a fortune. (I already have someone for basic maintenance thanks to Matthew Berk.)

Yes! I have an amazing gardener recommendation who can help choose and place plants. He doesn't really have a company though. I can forward you an email....

I really like my landscaper. I've been through a bunch (ugh) since becoming a homeowner and Kinal Sok is my favorite. He's also tackled larger one-off projects like planting, pavers, wood chips, rocks, etc. He cares about his work. Reasonably priced and easy to work with. Not sure about his plant picking abilities, though. LMK if you want me to ask. Sok Landscaping

Dean Backholm is awesome. He may be more elaborate than what you are looking for.

I use a sole proprietor master gardener/landscaper, Peter Lavagnino. He selected and planted all of my new landscaping. If you've ever been to the Lambda Legal Garden Party, Peter did the plants on those grounds as well. He can be reached at [email protected].

Yes -- we both got to Peter through the same recommendation from Susan Benson, the host of the Garden Party I mentioned.

We definitely need a separate thread for landscape architect/design. My last experience was... not good. I'll just leave it at that since Fresh Chalk is mostly family friendly at this point.
