A hugely popular and feature rich podcast app for iPhone, from superstar developer Marco Arment. As an iOS developer I really appreciate the extra effort that went into creating this gem. A cut above the builtin Apple app for podcasts. Better design and a few nice features make it a standout.
Lindsay Pedersen I sooooooooooooo agree. Switching from Apple podcasts to Overcast has made me a podcast enthusiast. Such a good product.

Liz Pearce Lindsay Pedersen What are your top couple podcasts? I'm not yet a real convert...

Lindsay Pedersen oooohhhhh I love this question. On Overcast, I have a playlist for "Enlightening" and a playlist for "Fun." Enlightening: After Hours with Youngme Moon, Choiceology, No Stupid Questions, HBR Ideacast, The Daily (NYTimes), The Journal, The Pitch, Ten Percent Happier, Unlocking Us with Brene Brown, How I Built This, Geekwire. Fun: Conan O'Brien, Armchair Expert, Smartless (Jason Bateman, Will Arnett)

Marisa Bossen I'm going to check this out! Thanks, Adam Doppelt!

Adam Doppelt I have two sets of podcasts - one for running, one for driving with the family. Shannon is a huge fan of Armchair Expert. For running I often listen to the long running Adventure Zone podcast, which is one continuous story. It's amazing how my mind opens up during a run and I can fully absorb whatever is playing.

Meg Solley I use Overcast too and it's great and all but WHY DON'T THEY HAVE A RECENTLY PLAYED LIST. Does no one else accidentally leave their podcasts playing silently through their headphones overnight? By the time I realize it, all my best recent episodes are gone and I have to try to hunt them down one by one, never knowing what brilliant commentary I am missing out on forever...

Lindsay Pedersen Oh my gosh, you are RIGHT! There is no Recently Played list like on Apple Podcasts. One workaround is for any podcast that you subscribe to, under Settings, there's an option under "Delete Played Episodes". You probably have yours on "When Completed" so they delete automatically after they are over. But you can instead select "24 Hours After Completion". That way, after they play, they are still on your list for a day. Life hacks!
